IKEA Therapy

As I mentioned in my last post, I have been lacking inspiration (which is the best excuse I can come up with for why I have not been posting). Not even my iPod could shake me from my funk, which I would like to blame on what feels like the never ending winter! Spring, where are you my love?!

Back to my lack of inspiration....On Wednesday, February 18 IKEA opened it's doors in Charlotte. However, due to the city's overwhelming excitement for IKEA's arrival, the store has been extremely crowded. So a few girls and I decided we would make a week night trip over to IKEA and do a little bit of shopping. If you have never been to IKEA, let me give you an idea of what its like:

Imagine a furniture store (semi-modern/contemporary) + Disney - the costumed character= IKEA

I was ohhing and ahhing around every corner. Literally. I can now understand why Taryn was overwhelmed with ideas for her and Matt's home. Its an intoxicating place to be. As walked through the store, my creative juices were flowing again. I found a bed that I want (from the MALM collection) and several other bedroom pieces.

I also began thinking of how nice it would be to decorate my own place that I own and do with it as I like. Colors. Furniture. Art work. Vases. Creative pieces. Tweaking it to show my personality. And of course room for my future....my dog! :) The past month or so I have been toying with the idea of buying a foreclosed home. Its the perfect time to do it. And one became available across the street from my parent's (which amazed me because they live in such a nice neighborhood...but we are upon hard times) - but I told them that was too Everybody Loves Raymond for me, and I might as well just live with them. I talked to my mom about it last night (it so nice having them in the same area)...because if I do purchase a home that needs some work I could pay the mortgage on the home and stay with them while I fix what needs to be fixed before moving in.

My ideal time to move probably won't be until the summer (after my trip to Japan in April), however if something were to come up that was too good to pass up then I probably go ahead with it!

So let the search begin!

The Revenge of the Un-Romantics

Okay, first off I am not "un-romantic" I am just "anti-Valentine's Day". And yes, that is only because I am single and have never truly enjoyed the day with a man of whom I was dating at the time. Blah. Blah. Blah. I decided that I would be "anti-Valentine's Day" a few days early, so I could do a special Valentine's Day blog that wasn't so doomsday like and try not to be, as my mother called me a *B* on V-Day (don't gasp, it is true).

I got this email from one of my favorite websites, Uncommon Goods, with the title of "Revenge of the Un-Romantics" and I couldn't resist using it. For Valentine's Day, my original plan was to lock myself in the house, with sappy movies and really unhealthy food (you know the type that I have been denying myself!). However, there maybe some change of plans...we shall see, but this is my one time to say: BAH-HUM-BUG to Valentine's Day. That is all.

For The Love Of Shoes #2

Here is the second post of For The Love of Shoes. This pair of 4 inch heels literally made my heart skip. How could a pair of black Prada shoes with a heel of a pink flower, not? And at a retail cost of $599, they not only make my heart skip but my bank account! However, they are on sale for $266.

Snow Day!

Today was the second time this winter. The first snow was more of dusting and barely covered the ground. But work was canceled on the day of inauguration, so I was able to watch history in making live from my TV instead of from cnn.com while millions of others did the same therefore slowing the feed. Though the snow was worse today, I was only on a two hour delay (which was a bummer - a serious bummer).

Here are a few pictures from today's snow.

He's Not That Into You

(Mel, if you are reading this...I know you just wrote a blog about this, but I couldn't help but writing one too!)

About 4 years ago, my mom purchased the book He's Just Not That Into You. I read it. Loved it. Began to apply the lessons to my own life. However, shortly after reading it I start dating a guy, who I truly cared about...but now as I reread the book I have come to realize that he wasn't that into me. Honestly, it makes me sad about the time I wasted being smitten over a man who though he said he loved me, never truly did.

Due to the fact that I began dating someone so quickly after reading those wise words, I forgot them all too quickly. And it has been years since I have applied those ideas to my life. Until recently a movie based on the book is coming out and I decided I wanted to reread it, that even though there isn't anyone in my life right now that I NEEDED to read it.

I began reading it Sunday night, and it really hit me hard how naive and what a silly girl I have been. Knowingly putting myself in "relationships" that have no potential and with guys who are not worth my time. I am really tired of settling for less, because it is there for a moment only to be disappointed when its over. Even though I know in my head and my heart that relationship will lead to no where, some how I convince myself that, that's okay.

With all this said, from now on...I will no longer waste my time when I know down to my core that it isnt going any where. When he is just not that into me, I will be saying "buh-bye".

Everybody Else Is Doin' It. (25 Random Things About ME)

I've been tagged several time in this little game. So I figured I would give in and share.

Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you. To do this, go to “notes” under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your 25 random things, tag 25 people (in the right hand corner of the app) then click publish...

  1. Most people don't know that I was born in Georgia.
  2. I have lived in the south all my life, however I am not your typical southerner. I think I would fit right in with "the yankees".
  3. I sit on the bathroom counter to get ready in the morning. Which is how I almost broke my nose two weeks ago.

  15. When I was little, I refused to wear pink. I didn't want to be a girlie girl.
  16. My favorite color is red.

  19. My favorite place is the beach...and miss it dearly since I moved from Florida.
